1967 VW Beetle

Today I completed the VW Beetle.

I didn't used any accesoires, I just build it OOB.

I painted the body with Zero Paints VW Mars Red and clearcoated it with Zero Paints 2K Clear. No polishing was needed, just some waxing.

I really love the result and the fact that I build a model OOB. I can't remember my last anymore :D

The Beetle is going to my grandmother's brother who is a Beetle fanatic. So it will be shown beside hundreds of other Beetle models :)

Fantastic job on the paintwork. Those hubcaps just don't look right though; they stick out too far. A shortcoming of the kit it would appear. Beautiful work nonetheless,

I was going to mention the hubcaps. I did one of these 30 years ago. Same issue. Hubcaps stick out to far because the manufacturer did them wrong. I took them back off and laid them with the back on some sandpaper. Slow and steady sanding until I got one that looked right when I put it on the wheel. Once one was done I could see how much to take off the others. Back then I'd build the kit without paint and using Elmers glue first to check out all the fit. Then drop it in some hot water to take it apart. Just a couple of tips for anyone building a bug. I think most kits copy info from other makers, so a lot have the hubcap problem. I think you did a great job on it. Paint has a great gloss finish.

Yeah those hubcaps didn't fit right. I was in a hurry to assemble them, otherwise I would have done the same thing you did. Sanding the backside. The model is already at the new owner and he loves it :D
