Takata Dome NSX 2005 - Tamiya 1/24

Hello to everyone and nice to meet you! I come from Greece and this is my first post in this forum even though I follow it for the last couple of years.

I would like to share my latest finished model. A big favourite of mine (as all NSXs), the Takata Dome NSX as it raced in the 2005 season of Super GT with Ryo Michigami and Takashi Kogure behind the wheel.

It is painted with Gunze colours and sealed with Zero 2K. The PE set from Tamiya as well as Top Studio rivets and KA carbon decals were also used. Many modifications were needed to make the car look closer to its 1:1 counterpart such as new supports for the rear wing which was thinned to scale as well as the diffuser, new exhausts and cut windows (as my reference pictures indicated). The transition from green to white was done with airbrush and free-hand as the decals were too pixelated for the scale.
The rest you can search yourselves in the pictures to follow!

PS. Apologies for the pictures' quality. My skills with the digital camera are still compared to those of a 5 year old kid no matter how many tutorials I have read... :icon16:

Thanks for watching!

Thank you sysqo. Details make the model ''spicy'' in my opinion and add points to the realism. Good to know that you liked it!

Yeah, I like Super GT cars, too! I'll start the Epson NSX very soon... it's good to see another builds, they give me motivation. Do You have ref. pictures for the interior? Or just made it according to your own taste?

I worked according to these two. The first is from the real car and the second is from game rendering. Not sure if they are from the same season so I made a ''blend'' from both. Difficult to find interior from the 2005 car. I hope these help.

I am at your disposal whenever you need me! :)

If my NSX' turn out that nice - one day when I have the time to build them - I'll be VERY happy! Great job on the freehand paint job R!

oh, and how did you freehand the paint transition between the green and white? low pressure and low paint volume?

I was inspired by some amazing builds of this car I saw in the forum. I tried my best to be able to reach their level. If my build can be a source of motivation for someone else now then I will be more than happy! :)

Normal pressure like the one I use for painting the body but low paint volume like you said. I was holding a square paper in one hand and held it in a small distance from the model while spraying just to have a ''driver'' and not mess up. Both airbrushes were loaded with paint (one white and one green) and if I had overspray I simply switched and corrected it until I had the result I desired. A very enjoyable process I must say!

Thank you kindly! I was watching the model almost every day for three months during the build so I got bored and can't enjoy it. Will probably store it out of sight for another 3 months and take it out again! :icon16:

Now that you mention it they are not so bad after all...! :sarcasmsign: :iceslolan
