New TPS, car won't start

I have a 97 Escort and recently started having idle problems. It would go up and stay up until I turned off the engine. It would also idle so low that it would stall out when I would stop at a traffic light. A TPS sensor code also appeared. I changed the sensor, but the idling problem continued. During the process of changing the TSP I also cleaned the IAC valve. The car would start with no problems, it just continued to idle rough, with the code returning. I researched how to test the TPS, did the test and discovered I had installed a bad(new)TPS. I reinstalled a new TPS and now the car won't start. WOW, one problem to another. :banghead:It will turn over, but it will not start. HELP!!!! What is going on?

A lot of TPS sensors have some adjustment look at the dirty spot where it orginally set and put the new one on the same spot.

The car should start with a bad TPS unless it's reading WOT which would put it in clear flood mode. Unplug the tps and see what happens. Check for spark.

Same situation on my 98'. Replaced TPS still no better. Now it actually over-revs. I've never been so... stumped with an engine before. More ideas to the problem would be seriously... seriously appreciated guys. Thanks! .

Try checking for a vacuum leak around the Pcv line. Clean the Iac valve.

I cleaned my IAC one an 94 Escort once and it caused a no start condition with no code. The reason why is because the sensor got wet with the cleaning fluid that I used.
Try unplugging the IAC and re-testing the TPS.
If that fails try unplugging both the IAC and the TPS.
Post back and lets us know what the results are.
See this post about how a wet IAC can cause a no start condition: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1087028
