I want to build this car:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PcD4peVM8Mk/USkf-qAcXGI/AAAAAAAAI_E/OeZWEkxVJtQ/s735/8a082e088a.jpg

She was present at the le mans classic 2006. also I have been there that year, together with the british crew of the gt40s enthusiast club guys.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zRoUWZEcaOY/USkf-o-9KUI/AAAAAAAAI_A/GgM4sHkpAdY/s735/8292674d1d.jpg

what I like in this car is the foolish combo color and the incredibly wide wheels.
The car recently has been sold, and here u can see the story of the vehicle:
http://www.classicdriver.com/fr/find/4100_results.asp?action=advanced_search&coopid=0&lmanufacturer=*&lcurrency=7&lcurrency_currencychangeform=7&sorderby=tblDealers.sDealerName&spriceoperator=less&lcarid=1769569&next=4100_results.asp&whatbutton.x=0&dealerid=0&lauctionmanufacturer=*&smilageoperator=less&bsubmit=true&lmodelflag=*&lcompetitionmanufacturer=*&bshowstock=Wahr&lresultsperpage=20&ldrive=1&lprice=0&lvat=1&lmilagetype=1

......Originally supplied in the same black/red finish as all the factory cars, in 1975 the car underwent a radical color-change in the hand of the driver M. M. Gallo, to the vibrant triple-colour design we see today and earning the nick-name ‘The Warhol Pantera’..... :grinyes: real cool

The model I am using is the Arii pantera.a misterious and quite rare model, that is basically only a gr.4 bodyshell. In my box the rubber tyres were simply powder, but this is not a problem cause they were wrong in size and dimensions.
Focus on gr.4 cars:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_4_(racing)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-icD4FZo1Z1M/UHWRoE5JTII/AAAAAAAAA04/HLcp-nXsL80/w703-h645-p-o-k/SDC17982.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-kdnthOy-sQY/UHWRn-8FAgI/AAAAAAAAA0w/X05UnGZMRPY/s707/SDC17995.JPG

unchrome the rims:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ah3pFmMRPjQ/UHWRqIc1RQI/AAAAAAAAA1I/RYmvEbcg9Z4/s708/SDC18002.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mmpVn51b07c/UHWRqtplzaI/AAAAAAAAA1M/4FOKx530kpg/s648/SDC18011.JPG

of course they need to be drilled and holed from inside. the draw of rims is not deadly mistaken, btw, so is possible to use theme, with tyres coming from formula 1 cars in the same scale (think something from protar, really dunno...)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zahKtF-N2bc/UHWRsIEbU7I/AAAAAAAAA1Y/EotU8i0kn68/s703/SDC18026.JPG

and immediately make a test fitting on the body:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Q-p_DeVdQvQ/UHWRsYYSWdI/AAAAAAAAA1g/aueOSOXwXFo/s731/SDC18031.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9L2vFQHSXNQ/UHWRsomw12I/AAAAAAAAA1c/_rZeFG_1D6U/s682/SDC18032.JPG

the fat body is a good starting point in this model (after my rauh welt cabrio bodyshell I wellknow the impressive work to make theme), however too many points of the carrosserie is not accurate.I took away all side air intakes, and cutted the area around the upper engine air intakes.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZRX_4rxkMGY/USkj2T-vgXI/AAAAAAAAJBI/Kgp4CRWPJRg/s667/SDC10736.JPG

all the body is over 1mm plastic thick allover, so is important to light it from inside with a minidrill, and this way I cutted the front bonnet following the recessed panel lines.

Ive looked for the GT5 from testors/airfix, but prices are to high.
I'll keep it with the Porsches.

Very well progress.

eheh, thank u all guys.

@denilsonvm : denis, surely that other pantera can be only nicer than this one. The only good point of arii is to be (more or less) an already shaped Gr,4 wide body, while all others are the "slim" Pantera.

@gioncolol : eh casso...dai falla anche te. è facilotta, curbside,si fan 3 decalini e viene.Piacerebbe rivederti in opera coi gruppo 4.
trsl: kmon giò, I really would love to see u back to build group.4 model cars. It is also not to difficult one. kmon ;)

@George: exactly :D!! she is the sister of the arlekin porsches. was thinking exactly the same.

@Joka: u dont miss so much.kit is too basic. of course will be a great company for all the RSR porsches racing in the same years. It is one of the reason for build it up her.

Ps: In the local Expo here in Milano, at MG modelplus stand I've just seen the new model of the 935 K3 in 1/24. It is a full resin kit. Imho very similar to renaissance model.3 livery available. Kit is for 180 euros and already done is for 300. Too pricey for my wallet right now, but really nice looking model (resin, metal and Pe parts..)

Thank u all guys. so happy also u like those Gr.4 cars. they were mythical and really soo aggressive on tracks. Is a pleasure see theme racing also today in historical events.

I went on a little making the basics of the paint scheme.I used colors from different firms.Tamiya yellow,Aeromaster acrylics (ex pactra color) red, gunze blue and tamiya Orange for the front lip.All colors are flat or semigloss.Much more easy to manage the paint than already glossy ones..hope u like it.

Now will let all become dry for some weeks.those paints are all acrylic/acqueous ones, so should not have problems of compatibility between theme. all coats are very very light.

So happy also in last week local contest I get 1st-2nd-3rd prize in modelling competition-masters cathegory ;).
My little blue AC Cobra made too many fall in love. For real she is a deadly beauty.

Hi george, nono..that is the reflex of the semi gloss blue gunze.it was the only real semi gloss color used, so over it the light effect looks crispy.
All must dry now and afterall will be glossy for decal apply (cant do it over flat surfaces)

going on a little with this project, after the build up of nearly 10 airplanes in those months.
Finally my decals arrived, as well with the ones i did for my RWB cabrio and for some carrera projects I have in mind for our group build.

I gave a base of gloss using future wax this time.It is still not polished, I just tried polish a little the roof, to see the response of this nice wax so popular in the past (and impossible to have in europe. I had some Alitalia pilots taking it from USA as if drugs..LOL)

Hey buddy!

Future floor wax is available in Europe! Next time you go shopping for food in Sweden check the isle for cleaning products. There is a product called "Pledge-klarpolish för plastgolv". It's made by Johnson&Johnson and according to IPMS Stockholm it's the exact same thing as Future. I've tried it myself on scale aircraft before decals and I can promise it works.

But of course, the US future works aswell and I'm sure your Alitalia buddies like being "contrabbandieri" sometimes.:naughty::iceslolan

Cheers!

tack Emil, cause I will be there next thuesday just before our Midsommar. In Bohuslan that is a main event, and I like it too much.
After a deadly stressy period here I need my cliffs, my sweden, my island...

Do u think Coop or Ica carry theme?living in an island is little tricky to find big shops (our nearest serious one is in Ytterby).
Will write it down this name btw and search for it. If IPMS say so will absolutely try it,caus emeans is true.
Future is not so easy to use but results is pretty good. consider I made a BIG mess testing a misterious german glossy can resulting terribly aggressive on model paint. For a real miracle I was able to save this model, but for 2 days it was just a nightmare. Of course didnt dare to take picture of it. Will never use such not modelling stuff again in my life, be sure.
Down here in italy we had a mess yrs ago for Future wax, cause dunno why Johnson was deadly aggressive on people selling and only using such stuff without their own authorization (incredible but I get 2 calls from company lawer..)

thank u again ;) ....and happy Midsommar!

Yeah, most grocery stores have it, maybe not in Marstrand. But most ICA maxi or Kvantum will probably have pledge on their shelves. Try the one in Kungälv, they should have it.

Will write it down this name btw and search for it. If IPMS say so will absolutely try it,caus emeans is true.

I was at my local ICA yesterday and thought i'd check if the future looked the same as when I bought my bottle (in 2010, 500ml=lifetime supply:p)
It was there but the name has changed it's now called "Pledge Extra Protection Wax".

Yes it is a must cause need to protect very well those apls printed decals.
It already happened to me to keep away the very light ink during the polishing.
Also this future test was anyway cool. sometime can be helpful when the paint base looks incompatible with anything as Ts-13 or can glossy.
Tried the ts-13 combo on this base and was simply scary...so better go on this way ;)

Hi Paolo,

The car is really looking great! I too am thinking about using Future for my current project as a gloss preparation for the decals. My usual Testors acrylic gloss will not seem to lay down smoothly and I've had to strip back the paint once already.

How did apply the Future? Did you airbrush, hand brush, or dunk it? I've been thinking of going the dunking route, but will need to experiment first...

Why did you say it was not easy to work with? What troubles did you have? Would be interested to hear your experiences. Thanks,

ianc

Hi Paolo!

I hope you are enjoying summer!

We had a discussion about future clear earlier in this thread. I recommended you to pick some up when in Sweden.

I hope you have´nt bought any yet since it is RUBBISH for modeling!
I bought some of the "new future" to try when shopping for groceries last week.

They have changed the formula so it does´nt get as glossy as the old stuff. After several coats all I got was a satin sheen. and it was easy to scratch with your finger.

I did some research and some guys use this instead:

http://www.humbrol.com/shop/new-for-...-125ml-bottle/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByMhacC5vAE

I read a rumour somewhere that some of the Humbrol engineers bought a bottle of US future online and copied the formula. I have yet to try some but from what
I´ve read it´s really good.

thank u anyway for the tip Emil. I still have a lot of real truly original/team america future vax taken to me by alitalia 747 commanders.think I can airbrush the entire house with it.
The results is pretty satisfy, the chemical formula of this vax is surely very very good.it reacts very wells also to polish paste. want to see what happens waiting it comes seriously dry for all summer.
Actually the painted model is inside a showcase, but down in italoy tehre are 39 degress of humid hot. will see what happens in 2 months of this "torkrum" ;) ...
