gas lid not ventilating 92 camry

hello, I am new to this forum, I have been trying to figure out what the issue with the gas lid is, I pulled out a little black rubber thing from the gas lid to ventilate it better. maybe it just needs a new one. it is a 1992 camry z28:sly:

Buy a new gas cap. The gas cap is supposed to seal the tank to keep the gas vapors inside the vehicle EVAP system.
