I needed to build a bike again. I picked this Hayabusa from the pile. Some love this bike others don't. But the fact this bike has amazing skills made a smile on my face. I like this bike.

The kit is from Tamiya and is very well designed. For example look at the fueltank and top fairing. They are molded as 1 piece, so there's moldingline anymore.

As you can see you can make a lot of different version of different years. It also contains a template for masking the fairings.

CrazyModeler made a nice PE set for this bike so I bought it to add some extra detail.

First I wanted to paint it pink and silver but then I decided to go for Black/Grey like the original Hayabusa. I just love this combo:

I don't have the exact colours but I think these VW paints will work also. Black Magic Mica and Blue Anthracite.

I was very happy with the topfairing molded in 1 piece. But somehow the front mudguard and the rear fairing are still 2 pieces. So I still had a nasty gap after glueing them together. I had to fill it with putty and sanded myself a headache. But after some spray filler the gap wasn't visible anymore. I primered all the parts after this.

I also removed the chrome from the framework and rearlink. I also primered these parts.

Now I painted the first colour. VW Blue Antracite.

The masking template is very handy, but also a bit difficult. You can chose between 2 painting designs so you need to follow the dotted line on the template very carefully cause else you ruining them. I was concentraded at the time of cutting them so I did made any faults (yet) :D

After placing them I painted the VW Black Magic.

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/paint%20(2)%20(Custom).jpg

The frame and rearlink were painted Zero Paints Silver. I dries like semigloss finish which looks very nice and I don't need to clearcoat it anymore.

I also made a dryfit of the fairing to get an idea of the bike when it's completed :)

Hopefully I can add the decals soon and clearcoat these part!

I added the decals, but I had a lot of problems with them. They are very fragile and break so easy. Sometimes I ended up with a puzzle....

Anyway with the help of Microsol SOL a hairdryer and a lot of patient I managed to get them on the fairings.

I also clearcoated the fairings with Zero 2K Clear.

Hi guys, long time ago :)

I finally have a little update for this Busa.

I wanted to do something with the Kusetto GinSan chromepowder I had laying around. I used it before with a black and white base, but at both bases I had not the right chrome I was looking for. Too bright and too dark. So I thought that the shiny grey on the wheels would be a good base. So after rubbing the powder on the wheels I got a nice shine:

Now I need to get further with the engine.

Well guys I was a bit busy with other things but I finally found some time to get further with the Busa.

First I started with the PE brakes. There are two pieces of PE that need to be used as a maskingtemplate to paint the discs. Very handy! Never seen this before but it worked very good:

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(1)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(2)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(3)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(4)%20(Custom).jpg

The frame also got some extra small parts:
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(5)%20(Custom).jpg

And further with the engine. I painted all caps and covers in semigloss black and highlighted the bolts with chrome silver.

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(6)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(7)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(8)%20(Custom).jpg

And mounted the engine into the frame:
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(9)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(10)%20(Custom).jpg

The topfairing was also finished. I added the frontlight and the PE mesh behind the airintakes.
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(11)%20(Custom).jpg

I also worked on the subframe for the rearfairing. First I removed the mudguard. I don't like them on bikes and I want to mount the licensceplate a bit higher and without indicatorlights.

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(12)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(13)%20(Custom).jpg

And started with the frontfork. First I painted the silver parts. I handbrushed the flat black brake calipers. I masked off these areas and painted the forks in gloss black and followed by some Titanium Gold from AlcladII. I very pleased with the result. The calipers also got some metal decals.

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(14)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(15)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(16)%20(Custom).jpg

And added the steeringparts:
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(17)%20(Custom).jpg

I also mounted the rearlink after it was finished. I wanted to use the PE chain but it was a pain to make and after all it didn't looked that good. It was to flat for me. The original chain got more depth and detail, so I used that one instead. I painted it Titanium Gold and the chain itself was painted Hell Bronze.

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(18)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(19)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(20)%20(Custom).jpg

I used braided wire from ScaleProduction.de for the brake and clutchcables.
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(21)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(22)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(23)%20(Custom).jpg

I thought the original exhaust didn't looked good so I wanted to make a sort of MotoGP style exhaust but that was harder to make as I thought. So I used the original exhaust and modified it a bit. The exhaust were painted Dull Aluminium (AcladII) and I added 2 strips of BMF on both sided. The exhausttips were removed and replaced with stainless steel tips from a Nissan GT-R. As finishing touch I added a Dexter Models Yoshimura RS-3 logo decal. The exhaustpipes were painted gloss black and stainless steel. The corners are painted with a bit of Titanium Gold. All was painted with AcladII paints.

http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(28)%20(Custom).jpg

The seat, fueltank and rearfairing fitted:
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(29)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(30)%20(Custom).jpg
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(31)%20(Custom).jpg

and the sidefairings and topfairing were placed.
http://modelbrouwers.nl/media/albums/245/7946/opbouw%20(32)%20(Custom).jpg

Meanwhile it's finished and I'm very proud and pleased with the result. I think this is one of my best models so far. I like it in every way :D

Pics of the finished model will follow soon. The wheater needs to be better before I take pictures.

Kris.

Finish on the cowls is superb! What a shine. As a motorbike I don't really like the busa but you got to love those bulky curved cowls!
