97 Transmission Problem

Ok so I have a 97 grand prix gtp that has recently had some transmission problems.
For about a week before the main problem I noticed feeling some hard shifting and thought it was just related to some misfiring cause I know I need to change one of my coil packs. Then abruptly my transmission just started slipping.
Basically my car will drive for the first 10-15 seconds then it will non stop slip. The only way to get it into gear again is to turn off the car for about 10 seconds and turn it back on, it will engage right after turning the car on but the process will just repeat.
From the little reading I have done on this, Others have said it could be my control solenoid since that resets on each startup. I was wondering if anyone could confirm that for me and maybe give some guidance to where that solenoid is on my tranny. I know I have a pressure solenoid and a control solenoid. and if I am doing to do this I prob should change my tranny filter too I suppose.
My only purpose to doing this is to be able to trade this car in cause I dont have the time to fix the many small problems it has and its a gas hog. I would like to not have to junk this car. Thx for any help
ps. I havent noticed any leaking of fluids.. but just in case I added some dexIII & lucas stop slip but that showed no results. Also I am going to go borrow an odbII scanner to get some codes off of this thing..

If you haven't done any maintenance to the transmission it would be a good idea to do so. Transmission filters get clogged over time and will cause the transmission to slip.
You might get away with just dropping the pan, replacing the filter and refilling. That will only replace around 4 qts. of fluid.

I think this is beyond a tranny service.....

As in u think this tranny is shot and the filter n solenoid would be a waste of time?

I hooked up an scanner and got a random multiple misfire code which Ive had for a while now from a coil pack. The other code I got was for pressure leak of some kind. I left the paperwork in my car but it said something like barometric pressure problem, which just points me to the intake cause im pretty sure there is a crack in the intake filter box.

well just wanted to update this.. I changed the tranny filter and replaced with new fluid and the car stopped slipping. I did notice that you could smell tranny fluid burning slightly here and there but the car was running for a good 2 weeks with no incidents. I finally was able to trade in that beast and get something in better condition.
