Can anyone tell me what I can do to my ecotec engine to make it a little peppier? I've only got 7,000 miles on the car and I don't want to screw up the warranty, so I think that all add ons have to be certified GM stuff. I looked on GM's website, but didn't find much in terms of what I'm looking for. I am looking for a small hp boost. Will intake and exhaust give me anything? I've heard that all that stuff is bulls**t though and just makes noise. I really need advice from someone with some experience. Please help.
Oh yeah, by the way..... my hat's off to all 3.1 Z24's. I also have an 88Z24 5spd with a 2.8 that finally wore itself out after 170,000 miles. I put in a 3.1 and I was completely amazed at what I was missing out on. That 3.1 kicks ass!!! They sound alike when you start them, but when I'm in motion and I downshift into 2nd and punch it, you can feel the AUTHORITY that the 3.1 has over the 2.8. That thing will give my ecotec a run for it's money too. The motor swap was very very easy. The two motors are pretty much identical because the 3.1 is simply a stroked out version of the 2.8. The only item off the 2.8 that you need is the diaphram EGR valve and the throttle body. So, now I have a 88Z24 running on a 2.8 computer with a 3.1 in it.
