Ferrari F2012 (Malaysia GP)

Hi guys,

After completed the Red Bull kit, I started building Ferrari F2012 Malaysia GP specs. Since the kit is by Fujimi, it's kind of interesting build as I've been building Tamiya kits.

Anyway, I started off by doing the engine
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/engineangle1_zps24845e33.jpg

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/engineangle2_zps7ba576b3.jpg

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/engineangle3_zps3ae17960.jpg

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/engineangle4_zps9ac72b0e.jpg

Then the under panel. The paint I used is TS-29 & the red part I used here is TS-49. Since the under panel is made into few parts, so I would place them at once & sprayed them all at once.

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/underpanelangle1_zps0f7f83ba.jpg

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/underpanelangle2_zpsb45f1167.jpg

After working on the under panel & the engine, I've made the rear suspension. The difference between Tamiya version & the Fujimi version I see here after making the F60, I find the rear suspension & the engine are two separate parts while Tamiya is one whole part except for putting the suspensions on it.

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/rearsuspensionangle3_zps0a463232.jpg

This is after I attached the engine & part of the rear suspension on the under panel.

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/engineampsuspensionattachedangle3_zps4debf4ed.jpg

After that, I work on the brake calipers, took me a while to put it as I didn't think it takes a little longer that I thought as the space to put the brake calipers on the part is quite small & I have to find a way to place it & that's the result.

After working more on the rear suspension & placing the brake calipers, that's the result.

Currently working on the monocoque but the G part for the screen is missing I think.

I'm not sure if it's me or not, I think the G part is missing in the kit & i need that part for the monocoque. I didn't even see any G parts on the content photos in 1999.co.jp website.  :banghead: :shakehead

Is there a website that can order Fujimi parts and ships to Malaysia? I know that HLJ doesn't accept parts order for the time being (don't know what's taking them so long to recover ever since the quake) & rainbowten doesn't do overseas order. I'm stumped here.

Worked on the nose cowl. It's been years since I tried putting carbon fibre on some parts. Not too convincing work on the carbon fibre to me. :headshake

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/noseangle2_zps7c72736e.jpg

Also it took me some time to finish some work on the monocoque especially painting the interior with XF-1 & outside rear monocoque with X-18. But then, it kind of look weird without the screen. :crying:

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/monocoqueangle4_zpseac56b8e.jpg

After that, I worked on the radiator & this is my progress so far. I took that small part at the bottom of the monocoque as the part took the space of the holding bar at the under panel (I don't know the name of that part).

Did some work on the front wing but it's still not completed yet. I will put it up once the work on the front wing is done. The assembly guide says that I have to place the nose after placing the monocoque without the front wing. But anyway, I'll place the nose cowl once the front wing is done.

I also have done some work on the rear wing but have to do some work on the masking after priming the wing & paint it with TS-26. I have to tape the rear wings properly so that I won't affect the white area when painting them with TS-49.

Hopefully can finish the work tomorrow.

Thanks.

Here are the photos of the nose wing & rear wing.

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p10/ace_f91/ferrari/Ferrari%20F2012/rearwingangle3_zps6556fd73.jpg

You can notice that the left side of the rear wing has a little bleeding.

After having some hiccups especially trying to work on the front & rear wing along with the body. As you can see the photos here, the end part of the body where the exhaust is (where the word 'acer' is) didn't close up properly.

There was one time when I was working on the rear suspension, only to find out that I put the parts the wrong way when I put the cover for the engine & the exhaust as the cover didn't fit in properly & looked up at the instruction sheet again & again only to discover that I had it wrong. :banghead:

At least I managed to undo the thing & place them correctly. As this is my first time handling Fujimi kit, I will try to make another Fujimi F1 kit again but not sure which Ferrari shall I attempt again.

Nice work! Came together very nicely!
Did you have any fitment issues? I have this on top of my to-do pile as well and plan on starting it in a few weeks. Will build it purely curbside, so I might leave ceveral parts out.

Regards,
Wessel

Thanks guys,

Wessel : The fitting is ok but maybe I'm still inexperienced in F1 especially when it's the first time I made Fujimi kits. if you noticed the engine cowl couldn't cover up the exhaust.

I might try making either the F2007 or the F10 model. I'm still thinking of what to take at the moment.

da_ashman : As I'm currently in Auckland for holidays, I could recall that there was a hobby shop in Quay St which was a year or two when I was last here, but when I went there today, I think the shop has moved out. Where did they move to? Do you know any other hobby shops besides the one in Newmarket?
