Finally someone is doing a kit of the Porsche 804 French GP winner in 1/24th scale. Fernando Pinto has a very good line of F1 and Lemans Winner kits in 1/24th scale and also just did the W154 1938 and will do a Vanwall VW5. It's good to see someone finally figured out F1 cars and sportscars should be the same scale.....1/24th!!!

We don't have this dumb problem in 1/43rd and 1/12th scale. This is Tamiya's fault since they wanted to put batteries in their P34 kit and the batteries would not fit in 1/24th scale. So they bumped the scale to 1/20th and screwed everything up in model cars.

I think 1/20th is weird and one of the dumbest ideas ever created by the Japanese in the late 1970's. I know alot of builders say they like having the F1 cars about the same size as 1/24th sportscars by making the F1 cars 1/20th.
With this kind of thinking we could make big aircraft kits all 1/72nd, medium aircraft 1/48th and smaller aircraft 1/32nd so they will all look about the same size. DUMB!!!!

Check on ebay for availablity. They are resin kits and are around $130-150 dollars US. I do not sell these kits.

They have the following 1/24th kits, all older F1 and sportscars:

Porsche 804 French GP winner
Mercedes W154 1938 GP
Ferrari D50 1956 F1 champion
Ferrari sharknose 156 1961 F1 champion
Cooper T51 1959 F1 champion
Mercedes T80 record car
Ferrari 166MM Lemans winner 1949
Ferrari 375 plus 1954 Lemans winner
Ferrari Dino 246 1958 F1 champion
Ferrari 158 1964 F1 champion
Matra MS80 1969 F1 champion
Ferrari 250 TR61 1961 Lemans winner
Bluebird CN7 recordcar
Vanwall VW5 1957 F1

I agree with the 1/20 scale issue. The problem now is that most good quality F1 kits are 1/20 scale.
If only Fujimi would have produced their F1 kits in 1/24 scale instead of 1/20.

deeply agree with u Tom.
also for me the idea (winning idea..unfortunately for us) to create an own scale for formula 1 cars is the DUMBEST ever.

sadly all nice models of those racers exist only in this stupid scale, even if revell is trying and trying to make more of theme in the correct scale.

I agree with both of you. At this point the Japanese have done to many great F1 kits in 1/20th scale for it to ever change back to 1/24th. One thing people did not understand was the quality of Revell and Protar kits is what made them think they needed 1/20th for detail back in the late 1990's. They forgot about all the great 1/24th sportscar kit with tons of detail from Tamiya. Back in the 1950's and 1960's sportscars and F1 cars shared engines alot. It makes it hard for companies like Hiro and Studio 27 to do cars as they have to make the same engine in 2 scales. Example:the Ferrari F1 312's and Ferrari P4's along with the Ferrari 312B and Ferrari 312PB.

I only collect 1/24th scale F1 and have plenty of kits to keep very busy so it really is not a problem other than for me to bitch a little about it. I have over 100 1/24th F1 kits including all the Wave, Rosso and Hiro 1/24th scale F1 kits:)
