Found a bad clunk coming from the car when siting still and turning the steering wheel back and forth. Replaced the intermediate steering shaft and it got better but still a clunk.
I checked and found the rack had quite a bit of movement when doing so.
Fix- steering rack bushings.
Dealer wanted $860 for a new rack but I found you can purchase just the bushings for about $15 each.
They are pressed in so you have to remove the rack but it fixed the problem.
I believe the clunk is from the aluminum rack hitting the steel subframe from worn out bushings.
