Just received three sets.

The quality is not bad. In one set there was a broken long driveshaft. In the other there was a little step on a muffler as result of bad mold matching. The third set was without issues. There is a contents of a box.

Nice to see them making engine even though not a big fan of HD. Theres no other company making so many products!!! If they could release more engines!!! vr6 or 1.8t would be nice.

at the risk of sounding like a cynic but can anyone tell where they nabbed this from or is it actually a brand new "design"?

As you can see on the instruction pictures they use CAD designing in their works. Thus, I can confirm with the big confidence that it is absolutely new original product.

Pretty old thread I know. But is this kit really worth the price vs keeping the kit box engine? If it is vastly superior to the factory box I can justify the purchase.

This engine kit was released long ago for the Fujimi Murcielago, which did not have a detailed engine.
The new Aoshima Murcielago does have a detailed engine bay, I can't name it an engine because of the way it is built, and this kit is not needed unless you want a highly detailed separate engine.

This is not a promotion, but a comparison. You can choose by yourself if it worth it or not. Grey parts are from HD.
The gearbox.

The crankcase, the cylinder heads and the camshaft covers. Aoshima's engine has no a crankcase.

The sump.

The Inlet, the outlet, the alternator and some other little parts. HD has two types of the logos for the intake manifold.

But you must remember that the HD transkit is intended for experienced modellers and required a lot of work for its installation to the engine bay.
Anyway, I like the realistic engine much more and have bought four of them for all my Murcielagos and Reventon.

Mikhail, thank you for the detailed comparison.
Indeed the Aoshima Murcielago does not have a real detailed engine, just an engine bay with many parts being molded into the engine bay tub. This is why I was a bit disappointed when I received my kit.
