Should be a circuit breaker, or you can unplug the actual buzzer. IIRC it's behind the dash and is a cylinder about 1" long and about as big as a quarter.

BTW well done keeping a Comanche running so long! What year is it?

Not mine - just bought it at a Dealer.
Was looking for a 4x4 'Beater" stick shift - no V-6 junk.

"Oh - just got this on a trade in !"
Fell in love immediately.
Straight six - a workhorse - powerful - few problems (knock on wood).
Little rust 112,000 miles . a Jeep (have had three!)

Since I wanted it, the dirty rotten Dealer wanted $2200 for it.
Didn't want to play used car dealer games with him....
The dirty bugger would have gotten $100 at a used car auction had he done
what he was planning on doing before I came along....

But I am happy - I love the thing. Floor shift - 4x4 - short bed.
Had to get the turn signals fixed $104.
Sent the receipt to Appleway Automotive Group (Spokane Valley) cause they sold me
the truck, took my money THEN told me the turn signals don't work !

Kept sending me letters about how they wanted me to be HAPPY and for them
to be my automotive dealer friend....etc etc etc....

Bet they ignore my letter.

Now I want to kill the damned Buzzer and the heater won't turn off HEAT -
so I figure the core on/off valve is stuck open or the connector is loose.
It is cooking me like a roast in the oven !
Is it Vacuum controlled ?

Found a $50 used Canopy for it !

This truck WALKS thru snow like there is no snow there !

Nice truck, and only 118k! At more than 20 years old you'll have stuff to tinker with frequently...but well done I say.

I almost bought one when I graduated college....but at the time, $16k was a pretty hefty price to pay.

fredjacksonsan - Where behind the Dash is the Buzzer ?

Not with the Fuses !

Note - If you have to crank your engine a long time to start it.....
Turn the key to on (not cranking).
Wait about ten seconds - the fuel pump needs to build up pressure (older cars mostly)
THEN depress the gas pedal while cranking - usually starts right up.

Don't waste the starter motor cranking away WHILE gas pressure is rising - LET THE FUEL PUMP HANDLE THAT !

For What It Is Worth.

If the G D Buzzer weren't SCREAMING AWAY FOR 20 SECONDS, you could HEAR the FUEL PUMP running !

I know on older models it was behind the dash, on newer models around 2000 (we're talking Cherokees here) it is in a black box near the foot panels.

How about getting a 5 year old kid to stick his head under there to find it while it's buzzing? I know that the space is too cramped for adults to realistically get under there! :lol2:

With fuel injection, I've always turned on the ignition and let the fuel pump run till it stops before cranking. Makes a big difference in the 4.0!

fredjacksonsan - Wow ! Someone else fingered that out, too !
I though I was THE only person to do that !

Even mechanics look at me like I'm a nut case !

My Nissan Pathfinder was like that - cranked for a terrible long time before it started.

I wondered if the cause was - that the fuel pressure took a while to build up, so I waited
until the fuel pump noise stopped (5 sec's maybe) then it started up immediately.

So I want to do that with this Comanche Truck (cranks a long time to start) , but
with this freakin' Loud BUZZER, you couldn't hear a jet go overhead !
Goes on and on and on, too !

So I wait until the Buzzer stops and figure the pressure is up and by God - It starts up right away !

No little kids around - mine are all growed up and no Grandkids yet.....lol

Made a big discovery.

The Buzzer does NOT come on if I first clip up my seat belt.

SO - I want to fix that by disconnecting the seat belt wires - or connecting them.

ASKING - is the seat belt switch in the harness NO or NC when not clipped on ?
Normally Open or Normally closed ?
