OK, the 1st one, a mclaren f1 with hi-dwnfc kit, it states on www.thecarexperience.com that this car is a 1996, yet when it was for sale @ www.qv500.com it said it was a 1998, anyone know exactly what year it is, i have it down for chassis #059 but i'm begining to doubt that, anyone know? heres some pics:

2nd: the jet black car that was in motorcars intl. for so long, you know the one with the hi downfce kit also, i kinda have the same prob. i had this car down for chassis #072 which is a 1998, but when looking through my file i noticed on the ad i printed for it it states that it is a 1997, can anyone help on this one also? BTW: does anyone have the rest of the pics of this car at motorcars intl? i seem to have misplaced mine, thanks.

I'm fairly confident on both those chassis numbers you have, but I'll have to look at my notes at home to be sure.
I have the pictures of the Black HDF car, so I'll share those as well.

Steve Will at Motorcars Int. was asked the same question - which car is in the picture. At one time, MI had 069 for sale and MI used this 069 after the car was "customized" when advertising for other F1s. At some point, I think they changed but who knows. Who cares.

Is Steve Will any relation to Dean Will, who wos the director of Coke. He is an Australian, we are family friends, he has a white McLaren, just wondering. Plus you are the only people on the net with any clue on this perfect car. I read all your posts.

Hmm, I don't think I like it much...it spoils the proportions and makes it look flat and long instead of compact and rounded. Maybe it's just because I am too used to the way the car actually looks.
I don't think it can be made into a convertible too easily because you would be starving the engine of air, and also because those airboxes sit pretty high...if you made the car into a convertible, it would have to have some sort of a high structure in the back to accommodate those airboxes.
You would probably be also compromising the car's structural integrity.
I don't think I have seen pics of a white McLaren before...that would be
pretty unique. Hopefully you someone can post a picture?

McLaren Mike - That page of thumbnails you posted is from 'jkbon's webpage. He's an active participant here. I have two out of the three white images, but the first one I have inside a different wallpaper (see below).
This shot was posted here before so I'm borrowing the image from that thread.

Here's the version of the desktop wallpaper that I have, and you can copy & paste the link below it into a new browser window to display the 1280x1024 version. Apparently this head on shot comes from an image used for the cover of a book titled "The World of Cars" - by Roy Bacon.

jkbon - if you read this, please post the other two shots of the white car. I sort of dropped the project of sharing all my pics, but will get started on it again soon. Work and life have been keeping me very busy.
mini_magic - Here's the Motorcars Intl shots I promised to post - I should note that even the file name on the photos references the 97 model year, but that doesn't jive with the other info we know about this car:

Interesting that it has the 97 GTR-spec 20-spoke wheels. The wing seems to be 97 GTR-spec too. Yet the 97-spec GTRs were longtails, so this is obviously a mix-n-match.
Incidentally, an individual in Sweden has two McLarens as well, a roadcar and a GTR. Anyone know any more?

It looks like a standard green. I think the showroom lighting makes it look strange. The owner of this car also has a historic orange GTR, either a 95 or 96.
I absolutely love the historic orange GTR (95 or 96, not the 97 long tail, though).
There was a 97 long-tail GTR in historic orange also, and it sold for an astonishingly low 400,000 USD at an auction. I don't know if it's been repainted.
I doubt McLaren would say no to any color request. They go out of their way to accommodate their customers. One wanted his seat belts in a unique color. They went out and bought the minimum order quantity of the seat belt material in that color, and it was still a big roll 300 yards long. I am sure if you can imagine and communicate a color, they will get it done for you.

US$400 000
Thats unbelievable. But i suppose it looses value because it isn't road worthy. Whats the cheapest anyone had paid for an f1? Plus does anyone know the name of the german who drives a mac everyday 2 work? I was thinking that he might of sold it for 1.3m Euros, quite a bit more than 400 000 $us, the red one sold at qv500.com, taylor and crawley. Plus how much would you make for letting a carshow or museum display your f1. Dan Kennedy must be earning enough from his f1, but then again, if he is earning that much, why would he sell it? Anyone know the price, www.mclarenforsale.com. How much does Dan want.He must want enough because he says he has $250000 worth of extras in his f1.
It mentions in that he has a communication device, would he have a brother with an f1, because there are supposed brothers with f1's that talk frequently in their f1's through a specially made navagation thing for them and only them. Is this Dan's?
Also it mentions in an article on McLarens (Dans car used) that there had been a problem with rocks damaging the under part of McLarens, anyone can fill me in?

Still dirt cheap for a McLaren, convert into a roadcar, still saving hundreds of thousands. Where is the car now?
I am seeing countless McLaren f1's for sale, this means they are probably at the peak price, they are soon to be overtaken by some future cars, i'm not saying they will be beaten in automotive design, just that not too many people in the future (car collectors) will buy a McLaren for more than the price they are already at. The cars will improve of other manufactures and buyers will prefer to buy a cheaper and newer alternative. As a McLaren owner said in his personal review, McLaren Cars say McLarens will keep going up in price, but he confermed they are definately not. How many are for sale at the moment, or in the recent past? My point.
Anyone know where the McLaren F1 spare chassis #101 is? Someone said in a previous thread that it is at McLaren cars used for future owners, the compulsary driving test which every McLaren owner needs to do. I think its is Japan, or it is? Was it the one made from extra McLaren parts? or is that a different car? if it is thats 108 McLaren chassis but I highly doubt that.
Another thing i dispise is McLaren owners who only own one for the sake of vanity "I own the best car in the world" They dont apreciate it. McLaren cars should only sell cars to people who truely admire the car. Take the car in the thread "There is no God". That just pissed me off.

Dan kennedy is probably asking too much for his mclaren adn thats probably why it isn't getting sold. he uses it almost every day, and while i don't condone this, i would too, it really hurts the resale. i think he is using the extra equipment in it as a excuse for people to buy it. its also got quite a few stone chips on it and the mileage must at least be in the 20k's. The problem with rocks under the mclaren is quite simple, the mclaren has a sheet of metal unterneath and 2 fans to the side (forget about these), this sheet of metal ends in a diffuser at the rear. when rocks damage the sheet of metal the airflow under the car is changed. not you may think this does not matter, but considering the relies heavily on that under metal (and its spoiler) to develop downforce, and going at 150 you would probably notice a significant change in the handling of the car. the communications device on dans car is an option put on there by mclaren, i don't believe its an aftermarket deal. The spare tub was kept at mclaren and was used for spare parts, the gtr racing in japan with spare parts is different. and yes, i aggree with the vanity thing, people should know about the car they are driving. i met a carrera 4s owner and someone had parked a turbo next it and he thought his car and the turbo are the same thing, its just something you have to live with.

mini magic,
I have information that Dan Kennedy's car has been sold. But I don't know for sure.
Like the rest of the car, the underskirt is carbon fibre, not steel.
Using it everyday causes wear and tear. If you maintain it properly, it should not affect the value too much, unless you get to the point where an engine rebuild is necessary. I don't think any McLaren has that kind of mileage.
Stone chips are cosmetic. They can easily be fixed. They don't affect the value significantly. And small scratches will not affect airflow significantly. You won't notice this unless you are going over 200, not 150.
McLaren Mike, can you please list the countless McLarens you are seeing for sale? I know of 6 only. Their prices holding steady in this economy is still a very unique phenomenon. Every other car's price is going down, except the Enzo, and that is still very new. Once all the deliveries have been made, I think the Enzo's price will not appreciate or hold like the McLaren's. I don't think the F1 has been overtaken by any other car yet. When it is, then I am sure that car will also appreciate.
The Ojjeh brothers had two cars, although one has been sold since then. The Gonzalez brothers had one car. Dan Kennedy does not have another family member with another McLaren. He uses the communications device to communicate with other cars if they are driving together.

He uses the communications device to communicate with other cars if they are driving together.

that is 4
you won't see the second silver mclaren of taylor and crawley because it is located in another garage than the 32a wilton row
anyway
nice 2 see the cars, but the real meaning of your epic journey is to find out the chassis number of the park lane car
;)

there's definately 10 for sale
jkbon attended us on this one, nobody really paid attention.
it is a Violet Blue on Beige Leather mclaren f1 with a hdf kit
and it is for sale at MMC in paris.
http://www.mmc-paris.fr/voiture_moderne/index.asp?marque=16#
as you click on the description, and then click on the top left foto, you will notice a small antenna. is this a car from one of the (ojjeh, is that correct?) brothers?

It is true that there are many F1s for sale at the moment, but historically that has been true for the car at this time of year. I know of 8 cars currently advertised for sale with another three avaialable and one Amerispec car to be available soon.
AutoSalon Singen rarely has the cars it advertises and most of their cars are on consignment. Personally, I will never do business with them. My last occassion allowed me to find the owner of the 959 they (and several others) advertised. Ditto for many of the German car brokers as they typically advertise cars they have no contract to sell! And cars driven in Germany are well used and therefore, caveat emptor.
David Clark (Taylor and Crawley) was the original marketing/sales person for McLaren on the F1 and sold most every car. Therefore, he knows the owners past, present, and future. Although the Amerispec debacle caused Ron Dennis and DC to have a tiff, things were patched up long ago. DC still enjoys a cooperative McLaren. DC usually has first access to many cars.

umm i don't know about that car, it could be the car @ christies, but i'll know in 5 days..., the car at christies was repainted so the car at christies is unique and i doubt that there are 2 of that color. comparing the car there to the christies car, they appear exactly the same, upgraded stereo and everything. i'm sure they are the same cars

what is the chassis # of that car (for my pictures)
edit - sorry wrong thread, i've more windows open
what is the chassis nr of the 97 gtr that was historic orange, and previously was the parabolica lark car (could be more)
apparently, it was auctioned in 98 or 97 and it was sold for about 400.00 pounds. quite cheap.
and if it has been repainted in what colour?
and what is the chassis nr of the blue car in the reply below (since i'm editing, i can't attach :-S )

well a clue might be that there's a weapon shield on the door.
i'm not so much in to heraldics, zo i don't know what a red lion with a crown on its head exactly means. but i do know that under it is something that looks like the scottish flag: blue with a diagonal white cross.
does this help out?

Ok, first of all, I'm an idiot because I had seen that other photo of the Blue/Silver GTR before and I know a lot more than I thought I did about the car. I'd also like to retract my previous statement that "no F1 GTR ever raced in that livery" because that's absolutely incorrect.
Team Carl competed in the 1998 British GT series with that F1 GTR, but only participated in one race. That race was Round 5 at Silverstone and the car placed 8th. This particular BRDC GT race supported the 1998 Silverstone Grand Prix Formula One race, but the series actually raced at Silverstone 4 times that year. The drivers are listed as Gregor Fisken & Peter Hardman both of Great Britain. The Chassis number of this GTR - which I know is what you have all been waiting for is GTR #21R. The car was previously used in the 1997 FIA GT series by Team Bigazzi under FINA sponsorship where it competed in the first 4 races of the season and the last race at Laguna Seca being driven by JJ Lehto and Steve Soper. This car did not compete at the 1997 24Hrs of LeMans.
On his website, Gregor Fisken claims that the greatest car he has ever driven was this McLaren F1 GTR and the most memorable moment was "driving the ex Works 1997 McLaren GTR F1 in the GT race supporting the British Grand Prix last year."
Here's two more photos of this car on track at the Silverstone race taken from Peter Hardman's website:
http://a1.cpimg.com/image/A3/05/20617891-9d7e-025801AC-.jpg
http://a6.cpimg.com/image/B2/05/20617906-f47b-025801B0-.jpg
And incidentally, here's the logo that you see on the doors and hood of this car:
http://www.gregorfisken.com/graphics/gflogo.jpg
Maarten - how the heck could you tell that was a red lion??
BTW: I also flipped the original photo around in photoshop (easier than turning my monitor upside down) and it's fairly clear that the driver's names match "Hardman" & "Fisken". Now I wonder which one owns the car? The man in that photo looks a lot more like Hardman than Fisken. I think I'll send them both an email and see what they're willing to share... ;)

I was surprised once I went looking that there was more info to be found rather easily. I still had some questions though and have forwarded them on to him. We'll see if I get a response.
