Mercedes-Benz 190E Evolution

Here is Fujimi's kit of the 190E Evolution. The kit is very simple and contains some parts from the touring car kits of the same era. To my eye, the proportions of the body are not quite right, but the end result is okay. Paint is Tamiya's metallic black straight from the can - I believe these cars only came from the factory in a blue-black paint, but I like this scheme.

The Mercedes wheels are only discs added to the front of the wheels. The supplied wheels suit the look of the model nicely.

Congratulations.....as you stated, itīs a simple kit, but veeeeery charming one.

I love this car....I have this kit and bought another 2 ones (Leyton House Fujimi and Senna Edition from Esci which has an engine)...want to replicate the car that Ayrton Senna drove on a race organized by Mercedes in 1984....he won and the prize was a 190E just like this one you built.

The only thing I donīt like about this kit is the size of wheels....very small for this car.....as I bought a MB 500SL from Fujimi and changed the wheels for AMG ones, will use the stock ones on this kit for better proportions....another solution would be to lower the car a little bit, but really not necessary.

Your assembly is very clean and well done....just add the wash on panel lines and paint the star on the trunk....it will get even better.

Hi Wilson,
Thanks for the comment. I have thought about getting one of the Fujimi racing 190E's, but I think I have too many kits in my unbuilt pile as it is! Thanks for spotting the Mercedes emblem on the boot - not sure how I missed that.

Lower it, maybe add some different wheels (maybe something double spoke, 17 inch?) and polish the paint, and I think you may find the proportions changed to the eye. I am pretty fond of the second set of wheels you added.

I had this same issue with the 88-91' CRX, but by lowering it, and changing how I outlined the windows it made it look more realistic in proportions.

Just some pointers. Otherwise, fantastic choice, this is my favorite MBZ sedan ever built. You did a great job on this.
