G6 keyless remote programming

Hi, I'm new to the site/forum. Apologies if this has been asked here or anywhere else, but I couldn't see where it had been asked recently. Purchased a new key fob for a 2007 Pontiac G6 and now I need to program it. I see various ways to do this online, but I'm wondering if there are any "tried and true" methods out there that you know of. Step by step instructions would be appreciated - thanks!

If there is a way to program that remote without a Tech2 scanner, I don't know it...Some dealers will program them for free, especially if you bought it from one.
