Lots of snow last night, so I pushed the button to engage 4 wheel. I think the indicator flashed for just a second, but it never engaged. At the same time I lost both the rear wiper and the intermittent setting on the front wipers. Any thoughts on where to start looking?

your shift on the fly actuator needs to be cleaned or replaced. 4x4's need to have the 4x4 switched on once a month and driven a couple of blocks to keep everything happy ... if you go months or years at a time of not using the 4x4 parts, things seize up ...

Thanks, Ill look into that.

Further:
The power windows apparently stopped at the same time (breaker is not tripped). And the 4 wheel indicator does not light up when the key is turned on.

It was a fuse. It also took out the cruise control. The common fuse for these items is labeled "Elec. Ig."

It's blowing the fuse every time I push the 4 Wheel Drive button. The vacuum never changes at the actuator. Suggestions for diagnosis?
