Left turn signal will not turn off

I had the LCM on this 1998 Grand Marquis replaced in 2009 and all was fine. Now the left turn signal will not turn off. It will when you shut off the car but otherwise it's on and blinking and clicking. This keeps the right one from working. I really don't want to buy another LCM. Is there something that could be making this stick? I took a screw out on that side of the steering column and fiddled with it but it didn't look out of the ordinary (not that I know what it really should look like when functioning properly). Any ideas on this are greatly appreciated.
