Hi guys!
I'm not too familiar with the sport car kits but have a Fujimi Gallardo that I'd like to build.
My question is if the portion below the rear lights are mesh on the real car? In the kit is it clear plastic with some mesh-like pattern and the instructions sais to paint it with clear smoke.

I guess it is mesh but I want to be sure.

Yeah it is mesh. Fujimi made a lazy attempt to replicate the meshes. If u smoke it, the effect would be neither here nor there, in my opinion.
For me, if I'm lazy, I'll just semi gloss blk it, or if ur skilled with the router, you could carefully remove the mesh portion and add in your own mesh.
How I did it last time was to glue mesh above the clear portion. Wanted the mesh effect yet wanted it to see through, however the glue fogged it up, so it kinda failed.

Ok, thanks for your input! I guess the hard part will be gluing the mesh in place...

Would you recommend cutting the clear part or just to add mesh to the body part? If the clear part only recreates the mesh then it's of no use if swapping for real mesh, if you get what I mean.

Maybe airbrushing that transparent part in flat black could be an acceptable solution?

Actually that's for u to decide, really. I get what you mean, basically I think ur trying not to waste extra efforts. I agree with you. For the top 3 areas, you could use mesh straight onto the body, well as for the bottom 2 areas, you notice there's a ring around the exhaust tips? That's suppose to be painted flat black I think.
Another option you could use is just forget about the part, mesh the top 3 areas, then find a suitable size styrene ring(replicating the ring on the actual part)flat black it, then use mesh around it.
Hope u get what I mean. ;)

I'd try drybrushing this. May need some light sanding for the paint to stick better.

Stumbled upon the Crazy Modeler P/E set for the Gallardo. If I end up using only the mesh parts it turnes out a costly solution but well worth a try.
Thanks all for your input though!

Oh yeah, and while you're on it, if u happen to order from hong kong/china, do not miss out the window masking for gallardo by Hobby Design too. it saves alot of trouble. =)

Bummer, just missed that. I thought that would be troublesome when looking through the box... But hongkong shipping is decent so another order will be placed. Thanks!

So, I just got the pe set and the meshl will be great. But now I got my eyes on the brake discs ;-) Pretty crappy solution from CM that you'll have to cut the calipers off and drill them out though...
Thanks again for your input regarding the mesh!
