The intake runners for each cylinder run straight across the intake:

The air inlets for cylinders 2, 4, & 6 are on the driver side of the intake manifold.
The air inlets for cylinders 1, 3, & 5 are on the passenger side.

Study it after you remove the plenum cover, you'll see what I mean.

This gives the air a longer time frame to warm up, (inside the runner) before being sucked in for burning. This is also the reason that "cold air intake" systems are a waste of money... the air gets heated up anyway. Inlet air needs to be warm so the fuel can mix with it faster, easier & more completely.

You are exactly right. The rear driver side intake inlet was the one runner that I didn't remove a towel from. It was the runner I had trouble with.

It's funny you mention this because I was reading about F1 engines and how the intake is up top and from what I read/watched the intake is up there for cooler and cleaner air plus better velocity.

Sounds like it's time to pull it back apart. The Felpro gasket set (MS98002T) is available at a reasonable price on Amazon, and has all the gaskets you'll need.

You're right, F1 air intakes are up high to collect air with less "debris", (marbles etc) in it and also to take advantage of the free "ram air".

Hey Old Master it's been awhile I just wanted to update this thread. I didn't get around to taking the intake apart for awhile since it was really cold for a time however I took the top of the plenum off first and luckily injector number 6 wasn't injecting any fuel when cranked. All the other injectors did so I'm going to replace the injector on #6 cylinder and hopefully all will be well.

Hey I just want to finish this thread with a green light. The injector was the problem and everything is ok.
