Hello.

I have a 2000 RCSB Silverado 1500 2wd with ~123K mi.

When or how often is replacing the shocks recommended if mostly street driven?

Thx!

When they stop working good.
Best test is to bounce each corner up and down and then let go.
If it bounces over one or two times it is time.
Also check for oil leak on old type shocks or lose mounting rubbers.

with 2wd the front shocks get beat quickly. check that the springs are not worn .

with normal non off road driving you should get 80,000mi.

I have the 4wd with torsion bars 2000 SIL. bilstiens worked out great.

do the check as mentioned. also look for nasty tire wear , this is another indication.

if you do replace the worn springs get alignment after you use the vehicle about a thousand miles. this will insure that the springs are set.
