3.1 Pinging

Hey all. I have a '98 Monte Carlo LS with a 3.1 with about 198K miles on it. I accelerated yesterday and heard a distinct pinging. Is this the symptom of a bad knock sensor? If so, where would it be located? Thanks.

Assuming this is ign ping , if the knock sensor was an issue you normally would set a code, it is more likely a bad egr or the passages to the egr are clogged.
