Bought a 1993 LX 4 dr sedan. When you look in from the rear window, the 3rd brake light is just full of dead bugs. I pulled out the wire and bulb, took off the nuts from the light assembly, and tried to pry it up and off of the rest of the rear deck but all I was managing to do was crush the deck where I was prying. Anyone know how to get it apart without ruining it?

I did some hunting around and this is what I found out. The 3rd brake light cover is held to the deck not only by the two threaded studs with nuts, but also with plastic clips that from what I've read are notorious for breaking. Then beside the breaking, they are suppose to be impossible to find new ones to replace if you do break them.
So it is suggested that it not be attempted to remove just that cover and instead remove the entire deck. That involves removing the two trim pieces going up the inside of the window, taking out the speakers and finding some other hidden fasteners. Since one of my upright trim pieces already is cracked, I don't want to chance destroying it. I'm going to try vacuuming on one side and blowing compressed air on the other to see if that can get those bugs out. Then maybe see if I can take a micro-fiber towel and use a downward sawing motion from each side to clean that part of the window.
