Transponder Mounting Point?

Greetings again,
After completely re-wiring the car, I am all over the place on where to mount my AMB Transponder and thought I'd ask. AMB says no higher than 18" with a clear sight path down to the track. It doesn't say how close it can be to the track. I keep focusing in on the lower front frame rail, forward of the control arm, but again- I thought I'd ask y'all if/where you installed yours.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
PS, here's the car's makeover. Logos used with permission from Ford.

Back when I was renting a transponder I would zip-tie it to the rear frame by the fuel cell. Never had an issue with it working. These cars have a ton of different options with easy line of sight to the ground. Best to put it up front if you're actually racing and end up with a photo finish.
On my Z06 I have it mounted to the frame rail behind the RF wheel.

Thanks Brian.
I found some possible locations on the lower front frame rail, but it would put the transponder only 3-5 inches off the ground, at best. I didnt know if that was too close. ?? I had it about 12 inches off the ground on the car I took it off of and it worked flawlessly. I guess I'll just try it and see how it works. I have to stop procrastinating and get this car out on the track.

I don't think there's a "too close" for these things so long as they have a clear view of the ground for the T&S sensor to pick-up the signal under the car.

Like Brian I have mounted the AMB transponder on my Panoz on the lower chassis tube near the front suspension with no issues.

I'll get some pictures, but for now... When I bought the car it was apparently originally wired for an EFI 302. The previous owner converted the car to a carb and left a lot of the original wiring harness for the EFI in the car. I also found what I believe was two-way radio communication harnesses for driver/instructor. ?? When I removed the dash panel, it was a total disaster. It look like a giant ball of wires. I tried to sort through it and finally have up and grabbed the wire cutters. I have a single source that I've used for years- http://www.wiringproducts.com. I had a custom switch panel made ($99.00) and every circuit has it's own colored wire. I used -12 for everything (probably over-kill) except the alternator, for which I used -10. I used 4/0 welding cable for the battery (bought locally) What I have now is a super-sanitary, easy to trace, fused system. I also moved the switch panel to the drivers side of the steering wheel, merely because that's where I was used to having it when I circle-tracked and in my A-Sedan Mustang. I'll include some pics soon.
PS- I saw in my junk mail that "Don" sent me a PM about the wheels I run. For whatever reason, it's not in my inbox on this forum. So "Don", I'm not ducking you- please resubmit your question and I'll give you the answer. I found a source for wheels that are very reasonably priced. They're not in the SCCA GT2 spec line, but you can protest me if you want. (lol). I mean: they are the correct sizes and fitment, just not CCW or BBS.

I'm rewiring my father's car and deleting the entire switch panel. Switches will be to the driver's left and fuse panel will actually be accessible on the dash "shelf" to the right of the car. Not to that point yet, but will have pics up when I get to that point.

Where'd you get the switch panel? Which brand is it?

I also got the wire from them too. I've used them for years. Great prices and great customer service.

This is what it looks like when you open the door. It provides easy access to the back of the panel and is inaccesible once the door is closed.
