I've got about $2,700 to spend on a car, and I'd like to get your thoughts on what you think a good first car is. All opinions are welcome, I'm really open to anything. I live in Minnesota, and most of the time it is cold here, so I need a car that can handle the winters. I prefer all wheel drive if possible. The main thing I need is a car thats reliable, and a car that is popular and was made a lot; that way if something breaks down the cost is likely to be much cheaper than if I had bought a specific kind of car. I hope that makes sense. I'm really open to anything, but immediately the thought of a honda civic came into my mind. I know they are very popular and one of the most moded cars out there, I figure for about $3,000 I can get one in relatively nice condition. Safety is also an important factor, the safer the better. Fuel consumption is also very important, the higher the MPG the better. I am a college student and money does definitely not grow on trees, so every penny counts.
I would consider a truck, but I know they can be gas guzzlers. A car is more economic, or so I think. Let me know your opinions, thanks!
