2002 jgc 45RFE question

Hi,
We have a 2002 Jeep grand Cherokee v8 4x4. Has the 45RFE trans. Has 176000 miles
it made a couple of clunks shifting then stayed in second. when you put it in drive it just revs up. Engine code is lit. Took apart. took valve body out and one of the pistons must have blew out because it bent plate and broke two screw heads in the process. This piston on the end only has 1 spring. Found all pieces in pan. (screw heads, etc..) could I just maybe replace valve
