A few weeks ago, my gas cap light came on and before I could safely stop it went out. I still tightened it but it seems loose. I have ordered a new one but in the mean time my check engine light came on and is giving the PO449 code. Can a loose cap really cause other systems to start screwing up. The old cap just doesn't snap like it used too. I've seen stranger things.

Just vacationed in Wells, at the Haven By the Sea B and B, great spot!! More than likely it is not the cap, that code usually points to the evap solenoid components, do a site search for that code.
