With all the salt the municipalities use on the roads up here, my front stabilizer bar on the left side rusted through. I recently put on new tires and had a wheel alignment. Both shops did not indicate that this was a problem to worry about. I sure don't do any autocrossing with that old Buick, but should I consider replacing the bar? With 150K miles on the Buick, I'm not sure I will keep it more than a year or two anyway.

Yes, you should replace it........it's fairly easy to do.....probably need to cut out the old links......don't need another alignment if you do this.....

Tech II:
Is it a safety issue or a mechanical issue such as wear on the wheel bearing, or both, as a reason for replacement?

Safety......if you have to do a hard or panic turn, it keeps the car flat and helps prevent a rollover....
