Fuel Injectors, maybe?

I have 1 2003 Ford Expedition. and this weekend the wife was driving and the engine popped and she pulled over. After getting it towed home, I started the engine and it was making a popping/ticking sound and smelled like fuel. I thought maybe a bad injector, so I plugged my code scanner in but there was no codes. Anything else?

Nevermind, after looking closer the #3 cylinder COP blew. I put a new one on today but still had same problem. Took new one out and the spark plug stayed in the plug boot. Now going to get new COP (new one put in broke where you screw it onto the head) and new plug. I will keep you updated.
