LED strip mod, Turning Signal

This may be long winded but ill explain the method to my madness.

I want to add LED strips to my car and have them act as DRL and function as a Turning Signal.

My plan is to tap the +12V Ignition ON and connect to the LED strip and to get the light to flash, I decided to add a relay to the turning signal and have a N/C contact in line with the +12V supply to the LEDs. So when the turning signal is lit the relay will energize and the N/C will OPEN, and flash the LEDs.

Question is will adding a relay to the turning signal affect the timing or add enough resistance to limit the brightness of the turning signal lamp?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

The relay wouldn't, but spare LEDS would in series electrical circuit!

I would disable the headlight DRL, and use the LED + parking lights for my Daytime running lights.

The relay should not cause an issue with the turn signal circuit, and since you're using a source to the relay contact that is not powering directly off the turn signal circuit, that won't affect the turn signal speed or intensity either. This is basically what manufacturers do when they have separate trailer wiring circuits - use relays to isolate the trailer turn signals from the truck. Don't forget to protect the source with a properly rated fuse.
