Best way to replace a Maxima Knock Sensor
“Take the grasshopper from my hand”
Remove the old sensor and sub harness if you want. Get a new KS from eBay (mine $7.19) or where ever and the same with the sub harness (mine $5.00 from local you pull-it). Buy a longer bolt (mine about $2.50 Lowe’s M8-1.25x60 Lot#HO1681864 H#883222). Please refer to picture for placement.
It’s all about mechanical vibration and the KS is the (piezo-electric) microphone.
Normal shop cost: $400.00+ every 2 to 3 years.
Don’t let your Knock Sensor sit in an oven and bake! Good Luck, radiola18
KS Placement: Shiny bolt with sensor in the center of the picture.

Radiola18 -

It's been about 6 months since you relocated your KS on the 1996 maxima. Any problems?

I'm about to do the same thing on my 1996 infiniti I30.

thx,

AutoKenny
