Hello! My 1987 Toyota Celica GT was making some noise, and took it into the shop. They said the air conditioner compressor needs to be replaced. $475 for the compressor (Toyota part), $184 for labor, and $155 for the reciever dryer part. Total with tax would be ~$1000. My car is a 2.0L engine, 92750 miles. The car last year had the steering pump and axle replaced for $2000. Is this a fair price for the air compressor replacement, or is it not worth replacing and time to sell the Celica? Just don't want a "new" "old" car that each year has costly repairs/updates. Suggestions?

That's probably a realistic and decent price assuming this is a brand new (not rebuilt) Toyota compressor.
And if you really like the car consider what a monthly payment for 60 months would be compared to $1000 per year or so a for repairs.

Thanks- I do like the car and after calming down realized, yeah, $1000 is less than a monthly car payment. Brand new by the way, they ordered it from the Toyota. Funny they said it was the best price after a lot of research.
