Burning oil.

My 84 is burning oil. From the side of the engine. Smoke is coming from the engine and the houses that go to my carb air filter. What could this be.

Most likely, leaking valve cover gaskets.

agree sounds like valve cover gaskets. when you remove them make sure the oil drain back holes in the heads are clear as this can keep the oil from retuning to the oil pan and causing it to be mre prone to leaking even if you change the gaskets
