well i didnt get any useful information about the new models before purchase, but i did buy a new truck anyways, and so far everything has been superb with the new truck. of course 1800 miles doesnt declare much about the truck.. but its a silverado 1500 4x4 z71 with 5.3L V8 and it runs great on E85 or gas.... with E85 it only gets about 14.8 MPG general dirving (highway and town)... on 87 octane gas i been running 16.4 MPG general mileage..... when mostly highway i getting closer to 20MPG.. the iphone integration works perfectly... and rides excellent .. no comparison to the 2000 model silverado 2500 4x4 i had previously..

the 2000 1500/2500 has torsion bars. your 2012 1500 has struts. this will result in ride issues/tires getting odd wear as these springs fail.

30,ooomi this will begin to show.

with the DOD you will begin to use oil as the mileage gets up to the 40,ooomi point.

I believe this vehicle does ride much smoother than the 2000 2500. this 2012 is more like a car suspension.

well 60000 miles on the 2012 and going strong. Never experienced uneven wear on the tires though i rotated at every 5-8k. just under 1/4 tread left on tires.

actually the truck is about ready for a new set though, planning on a more aggressive tread next time. It is proving a pain to find a set at the tire stores in a P265 65 R18 MT.

I can find plenty of 275 75 18 though. I am not quite sure they will fit without rubbing issues. and i have not installed front leveling kit on the truck.

It does use about a quart of oil at 8000 mile intervals, i assume its due to the AFM system. (Active Fuel Management system)

averaged about 17-18 MPG daily driving for the last 30k miles or so. I have not used any e-85 in the truck for the last 35k miles.

I recently seen on Auto Anything a device that disables the AFM on the chevy, plug and play through OBD port. Thinking about giving it a try. any feedback as to whether a tuner would turn off the AFM system?
