Clicking noise

I have a 2011 Taurus Limited that we bought in Feb. this year. We bought the car used ( certified pre owned) from a Ford dealer. Have noticed when making left turns it is making a clicking noise. Gets louder the tighter the turn. Any ideas?

Does the clicking seem to correlate to vehicle speed? Does the noise go away when the brakes are applied, even gently?

Doesn't seem to be speed related. only hear it when making turns to the left. gets a little louder when turning into a parkink space. Does not go away when brakes are applied.

The clicking noise is maybe coming from the drive axle, if you're hearing at the turn, the cv joint is bad in the left front axle. You can fix it by replacing the axle or better to replace the both.

With it being a 2011, it's probably still under warranty. The driveline warranty lasts longer than the bumper to bumper, although if the noise is not speed related (doesn't change the clicking rate corresponding to vehicle speed) it would be tough to say it's in the driveline (or an axle/half shaft).

I'd suggest you remove the front wheels with the vehicle safely supported on jackstands and carefully inspect the wheel wells for signs of rubbing as well as the brakes and front end. Pay particular attention to the right side as momentum would be carrying things this way on a left turn.

Front axles ! Might be hard to believe but I bought a NEW car a few years ago and both axles were clicking. Of course the company stood behind it but who would of thunk it?

I've always found when an outboard cv joint clicks the joint opposite the turn is the culprit. It is the joint loaded with the weight of the car in a turn. In other words, clicking when turning left means the right outboard is the culprit.

One clue indicating a bad cv joint is grease coating the wheel well liner. The boot surrounding the joint cracks open releasing the grease, the joint wears due to lack of lubricant and clicks.
