My passenger folding mirror quit working, not sure when it happened because I hardly ever use this option but I noticed it earlier today. No I haven't looked into it yet but I thought I'd ask to see if someone could give me a heads up where to start looking for a possible fix.

Unfortunately, I don't have troubleshooting information to help you in this situation. If you decide to work with a GM dealership to get this taken care of, please keep me posted on your progress! I can check into warranty/recall information in the meantime if you wanted to send me the last 8 digits of your VIN.

If its just the one side, there is either a wiring issue, a problem with the mirror motor or a door module problem. There is most likley a "B" code stored that would help in the diagnostics, but, without the correct scanner you will not be able read the code.

Is it really needed?
New bells & whistles are not the most reliable.
It's not unusual to isolate, or pull fuse's on options that are not needed.
Example-
Day time running lights
Heated seats
rear wipers
wipers for head lights
electric defrost
folding mirrors
OnStar
Amps - How many watts do you really need?

I scheduled an appointment to have a couple of issues fixed, one the folding mirror and the other is the sticking door retaining rollers on the hinges. The dealer I bought the truck from is replacing all 4 hinges and now that I know about this problem I will keep the rollers lubed but the mirror problem is yet to be sorted out.The service guy I talked to today on the phone asked if the mirror got bumped in a parking lot which could have knocked it off track or something.:dunno:

owners with these do have problems like this. they switched to the manual type. lots of failures with this option .
since the driverside controls work it is most likely the passsengerside mirror motor.
expensive . about 300.oo ea.
I use 30wt air compressor oil with some powered grafite mixed in , to lube the door hinges/latches. use a small acid brush to coat the surface.

Try Resetting the power on fold away mirror, the procedure should be in the owners manual.
I hope this saves you $500, the mirror was probably accidentally obstructed while folding.

I actually bought 2 years of warranty when I got the truck so the most it will cost me is the $100 deductable.j Cat I saw your reply about keeping these door hinges lubed on an older post so I will definitely be keeping the new ones oiled up.

It's funny, how one side mirror cost more than the other!
I like the ICAT Trade secret formula too, it's better than traditional motor oils for door hinges.
What about the cost next time?
A $100 lap dance would feel better, than a $500 to reset mirror!
