This is a project I have been building in my head for quite some time, but never fleshed out the details other than starting with a Dodge Caravan and mounting an engine amidship. I decided to start cutting and see where it goes. A full day of work got me here.
I cut out the grille and headlights. I made a new rear bumper and some other little parts to make the flares “fit” the body.

Once I get the body sorted out I’ll deal with the powerplant(s?) and wheels…
Hey, both companies are owned by Fiat now…

this looks like an interesting build, once you've gotten over the shock of seeing an enzo front on the van. :)

Umm, wow.

Makes me think of those crazy vans in Japan. You gonna throw some huge wings and guns and lights all over it?

This kind of reminds me of the Renault Espace F1. I bet the Ferrari V12 would sit nicely in the back of that and 4 race seats and 5 point belts.

Espace,

All served as inspiration for this project. But I didn't want to copy them either. I won't be going the wacky route of some of those Japanese cartoonish creations.

At this point I am planning to put a mid-mounted V12 in. Probably just two racing seats.

Lunar? Maybe, me...

I decided to go with a V12 since I have the some of the main engine parts from the Enzo.

Where did you get a dodge van at?

From Lindberg, it was leftover from when I drew the stickers and placement instructions art for the kits. They are still out there, two versions, a red one and an Illinois Police version, both are Super Snap kits.

Now that I have the engine positioned I knew where to put the scoop. I smoothed out the roof and filled the holes for the rack and went with a Dodge theme for the scoop and new roof details.

I also shaved the door handles off.

Great stuff.
I agree with rsxse240 that this would look great "Dekotora" style...

Back to this project… It wasn’t stalled; it was a victim of “priority shift”.
The basic engine and part of the rear suspension is installed into the interior. The engine is almost box-stock except for the pulleys and the cam cover inserts.

The bodywork is finished and it is starting to get the final paint applied. There is a wing I am working on for the rear roof that goes with the scoop.

The wheels are done except for center caps and possible tire lettering.

Yes, I machined the outer rim, and the ring I painted blue. Made it easier to paint...

Seats from an RX-7 were mounted to a riser made of sheet stock. Seat belts were cut from vinyl patch material for an air mattress. I also cut the hardware out of chrome Mylar.

A set of simple intake stacks were turned for the engine and some of the plumbing is done.

Wild & different! I like it. Would have been interesting to stick with all dodge theme & use viper bits...hmmmm...
I built this van in stock form for a friend of mine :)

That would be logical, but I had the Enzo parts and since Fiat is the parent of both marques, it works right now.

It’s not getting any prettier, but it is coming along. Interior is installed… Head lights were treated to a transparent mirror-like film left over from a Tamiya cycle kit. It changes from blue to gold depending on the way light hits it, yet it is still see through. There is a radiator with twin fans behind the grille.

The tailpipes are also installed behind the mesh in the rear valance.
