Ferrari 355 Hello Kitty

Hi guys,
after about 40 Italian horses in traditional red, yellow or black, I decided to go for something different this time, and realise a fun idea I've had for quite some time now.
Since I couldn't get my hands on Fujimi's F355 spider, I decided to rebuild my old Maisto kit into an F355 Spider "Hello Kitty".
The modell was repainted with Tamiyas PS-29 Flourecent Pink, covered
with TS-13. Unfortunately it fell down after applying one of the last coats of paint, and some traces of that accident can still be seen, as I didn't want to go through all that painting again. PS-29's opacity is very bad, it has to be applied very carefully...
Rims were covered PS-40 Translucent Pink, interior TS-25 Pink, flocked in different shades of pink. I also used the P/E set from Acustion, some other leftovers from the scrap box and every piece of Hello Kitty junk me and the Internet could think of. The decals were printed on a colour laser printer.
Reactions so far ranged from "Cute/Gorgeous" (mainly little Girls) to "Good lord, how could you?" :grinno:

Maybe you like it...

Surrounded by "regulars" it doesn't look so striking after all. :iceslolan

That's something I'd like to see somebody put on the street 1:1. It would certainly get a lot of comments.

Good work! I went from "wooo... looks cool" to "good lord!" when I saw the interior pics.
Congrats.

At least you managed to make it stand out from the shelf:P

BTW, I´ve been wonrdering about PS paints:
- what do you use to protect plastic from it? I´ve read they have strong solvents that could melt plastic :/
- doors and sides look to have a lighter shade than the top. Is that the effect of light? Or is it that you applied more paint on top?
- what´s that about "oppacity of the PS paint"?

Thanks!

The body is metal. I used metal primer, tamiya grey primer, tamiya white primer, then PS colour, then clearcote. The body wasn't affected. The plastic parts were first primed (Tamiya grey fine) as well, then sprayed with PS. I couldn't see any damages on the plastic parts. Maybe they are now covered by the flocking! :licka:
And also the rims, that were sprayed PS translucent pink, didn't show any damages on the surface.
The smell of fresh PS paint is horrible however.
The different shades must be the lighting, Apart from some staines, the paint is applied quite even. Or the colour has a "flourecent" effect afterall. I haven't noticed it yet in the shelf.
If you have some little spots etc. on a "regular" painted car, you can repair that by applying tiny bits of paint, and it will cover your mistake. E.g. if the base coat shows through, on sharp edges. With this PS, I had to put on white paint first, then a big drop of the pink. On a dark base, you don't get to see any pink at all. It's seems to be a bit translucent, too.

Believe it or not, those things exist on the street! :)
(Though I'm not sure if some of them might be photoshopped....)
