remove rear tray 2002

I am trying to upgrade my 6x9 in the back and I am unable to get to the speakers since the rear tray covering them is mounted in such a way that it seems to be sealed on. The newer civics seem to more difficult to take apart then the older ones. If any knows how to take it off please help!. Thanx.

on my 2002 civic lx.

They are more difficult, i know my 2002 is a pain in my butt. It takes a little bit of time but, go to www.7thgencivic.com thats were i wish i looked first. They have a good DIY section. and we are all willing to help

They have a detailed how to, but they take out the seats and all that shit, you do not need to take out most of what they did, only if your putting in subs and want dampening material up in the sides and stuff, just

1) fold seats down
2) looks for the white clips and pop those, as to not break them (like 7thgencivic.com shows)
3) work the seatbelts down the slit in the plastic on the tray for all three,
4) there are 3 other clips you can pull with your hand where the seats fold back up to at the bottom of the tray
5) pop the 2 slanted things seperate from the tray that lead two the ceiling off, there is a cover for each, than get them the rest of the way off, they are simple enough.
6) I believe that is it.
the pictures on 7thgencivic would probably be helpful to you, but they add a whole lot more work than you need, i took mine out in about 10 minutes, and put it in, in 10 min

YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE OUT THE SEATS!

True, I did mine and at first i was like, "take out the seats damn they made the new ones weird" then i looked at it and did it without taking out the seats. It takes a while and you might want to kill honda for putting in so many damn clips but its not to bad.
