What difference is 2.3 & 2.4 Engines?

I have a 95 Grand Am with a 2.3 four cylinder engine. The car got wrecked beyond repair but the engine had been rebuilt and is still good. I thought maybe I could find another car with a bad engine and swap it out. I found only 94 and 95 had this engine and the newer ones are 2.4. Is this like the older grand prixs that had 2.8 v6 engines and you could swap a 3.1 into it and not have to change anything? Would a 2.3 bolt up and all wiring be the same in a car that has a 2.4? All help is very much appreciated.
