Don't lock your keys in your car, use a smart phone FOB app.
How much does it cost to unlock a door today?

Help us understand the purpose of this thread. GM vehicles with On-Star advertise such a capability, but it relies on a paid service that you call and they are able to send a command to the properly equipped vehicle to unlock the doors. A standard cell phone today does not have a transmitter with the correct waveform or hopping scheme to allow an app to make the phone function as a key fob.
Many newer cars have "intelligent access" fobs that, as long as their batteries are good, will not allow you to lock the fob in the car or in the trunk. Many Fords and older Nissans have a keypad on the driver's door that can be used to unlock doors and the trunk.

GM's OnStar's Safe + sound is $200 a year plus your personal phone service plan.
Check out the Viper system Iphone @ Best Buy price = 1 phone service plan.
Also Tag your auto with a hidden Zoombak universal GPS locator, but don't enable service until there's an issue with theif.
Actually with to days smart phone you don't even need a phone service plan, if using voice/internet protocol (VOIP).
Just park your auto into any Hot spot for free Google ''Hot spots'', Google voice, Google Maps, Pandora, Hulu plus, Hot Apps, and WWW.
