Okay my 2011 came with keyless entry but not remote start. I was told that I could add OEM GM remote start.
Does anyone know what I'll need beside 2 new FOB's and having GM program the computer for it?
Yes in the 7th row of RPO CODES listed in my glove box I see AP8 as I was told that code had to be present.
Any advice will be appreciated :grinyes:

I wish I could be of more assistance, but don't have information on what is involved in the addition of a remote start feature. Have you contacted your dealership already on this inquiry? They would be able to tell you (although I don't doubt you'll get some great insight from some very savvy forum members as well).

The service dept. and parts dept. actually had lots of knowledge about this.
If your truck has the RPO code of AP8 all you'll need is this part number 17801236 and have them program the remotes.
My total cost will be $235.00 installed. Will be doing this Monday...:runaround:

Well I bit the bullet. I can now say I'm good to go and the price was more than what they said. They only priced the unit and still charge labor.
But hey I am not complaining as it works as promised and I get about 500 ft with no obstructions 300 with and believe it or not I work in a guard tower and it's at least 800 ft from there to the lot and it starts. Being higher seem to give better distance.
That being said I'm not at all disappointed as I can start it from hundreds of miles away using my phone and the onstar app. So distance is no issues here.
Total out the door. 292.38.
P.S. a professionally installed aftermarket can run you more and you have to pay extra to get it to work with your phone. They also cut and solder lots of wires. So for me GM OEM all the way.

thanks for your feedback with this assesory add on.
since the vehicle was built with the ability to have this, going with the GM components would be best . also any warrantee issues your covered.
