So two magazines, this one and Top Gear, what's next?
Do we see another story from Italy, or perhaps something new? :smokin:

Yes, that IS the Mclaren 59 sign that was hanging above the pits at Le Mans in 1995 :runaround:

First off thanks for posting the article.

What he says about some ferrari models being crap is true. One thing that always amazes me is that when some company creates a new supercar, no matter how fast or sexy, the F1 being the true machine automatically gets reinforced even all these years later against the latest models of any make.

Awesome article!! Thanks again Greg.

I am surprised that he didn't mention the Zonda though; I remember him being very impressed by it back when he met Horacio and experienced and drove the Zonda F. :)

Also I'm not sure that I agree entirely with his criticisms of Christian von Koenigsegg's cars. They're the only hypercars I can think of apart from the F1 and Zonda that display genuine engineering innovation, technical brilliance, originality and focused design. The early CC8S and CCR cars were a bit crude to be fair, but from the CCX onwards they were excellent. Perhaps the only criticisms that can be levelled at them is that they're not naturally aspirated and a bit heavier than they should be, but it's pretty difficult to get hypercar levels of power nowadays and still adhere to all those environmental regulations without some form of forced induction. Then there are all the other regulations like ABS and airbags and such that need to be accounted for, and which nearly stopped cars like the Huayra (ugly!) from being sold in the US. It's a very different time now; the F1 was conceived and born in a time and world that was much freer and way less unecessarily regulated than today.

That said the F1 is still the best 20-year-old supercar bar none :bigthumb: , and still remains way ahead of anything from its' time. And what Gordon has in the pipeline sounds way more like an F1 successor than anything McLaren have cooked up so far. Can't wait to see it.

PS: Sorry, still no F1 spot from me as there's none in Malaysia. The closest one os #021 in Singapore, and my Singaporean friend is no fan of F1s and thus couldn't be bothered to drive over and check it out.

I agree on some of those cars.

I think what also helps is the story behind the F1, it has soul. Some of the other cars you mention are terrific cars, but it seems these days it's all about specs and numbers. Would love to have some of them anyway.
