Dash Lights & Dash Retrofit

There have been a lot of posts about dash lights and how they now have to be soldered in----but I haven't seen anything about using an older version of the dash that has replace-able Illumination Bulbs.
I have an '05 with lots of miles, so it makes sense that a couple of the Dash Lights have burnt out. Maybe older Dash Clusters with replaceable lamps and will fit in my truck??? The Clusters look the same for many years---maybe an '01 would have the old-style replaceable bulbs, and still plug right into my 05??
Has anyone tried this? Any experience, or advice, or ideas would be appreciated

I had a 99 and I am going out on a limb to say that your bulbs are probably the same type,a bulb/socket one piece assembly,so if they are and you want to replace the burned out ones you have a couple of options. You can buy the same kind of bulb/socket unit that is sold as a one piece replacement or you can buy the bare socket and use a normal 194 bulb if your into using colored bulbs or just the plain clear ones.
