This started out as an old late ‘70’s Sunbird by Revell. These kits were tooled up after the Monroe Handler Mustang II and share many of the same parts. The chassis detail is weak and the size of the parts is anemic.
I had these leftover test shot parts stashed away since about 1977/8(?) and there is no clear shot in the pile.
I had an extra Monza nose and hood and thought they looked better than the Pontiac parts. They are supposed to be plug & play, but a little bit of sanding and filling were required to get them to line up, SOP for the era.

I am using the customized Sunbird rear end.

The rims are easily identifiable leftovers from an earlier project. I milled out the hubcap/lug area…

And machined some aluminum sleeves to make them fit in some larger tires and add some offset…

This is a rear…

The fronts and rears have different offsets. Rear parts on the right, front parts on the left.

I really LOVE the subject... had more than a few of them when they 1st came out... Not a fan of Your wheel and tire choice though... Look like snow tires... LOL

I textured the wheel centers for a cast look and went with a white-silver for the color. I also machined a set of center lock nuts and stems.

The color is a mix of Mazda Pearl Black, two Humbrol pearl clears and a few drops of violet pearl.

The interior is done, quick & dirty OOB. I added some texture (velour-ish) to the seats and some decals for the gauges and radio. (Note the molded in CB too.) Wood trim (remember, this was the 70s…) is just hand painted.

What a difference a bit of wax can make, especially on a non-cleared witches brew mix of urethane and enamels using lacquer thinner to marry them all together. Now it is onto the black trim and graphics…

There were no windows so I made a windshield from sheet plastic. The headlights were painted with a mix of clear and white to tone down the chrome. (They don’t look so white in person…)
