92 3.3L its overheating yet again. ran fine for little over a month now. it was doing this consistently for weeks so i replaced the cap, water pump, thermostat, did a whole head gasket kit. drained it and filled it 60/40mix. 60 antifreeze)

well yesterday i looked down and surprise surprise its overheating again. i shut it off soon as i seen it as it was around 250ish. this car has been nothing but trouble since the day we got it. any help would be great guys. thanks

Only two things I can think of.
1. Sensor/gauge isn't accurate
2. Radiator plugged up.

it seems to do it about every month, ive read that these cars are notorious for magically evaporating coolant??? but it does perfect for weeks and weeks then 1 day it just decides to be retarted and honestly this crap gets me so mad i literally just want to set the car on fire!

is there a special way of filling the coolant on this car?

Since you say you're losing coolant, pressure test would be in order.

If your only losing a little coolant every few weeks, thus causing your over heated condition,
Try some www.steelseal.com (http://www.steelseal.com)

Notes-
1) Make sure both radiator/ Air cond fans are working with the HVAC COOL High max
2) Make sure all your rubber hoses are ruled out with a coolant pressure test.

The thermostat do not turn on the fans, it's a temperature controlled valve, so control the flow of coolant.

A temperature sensor tell the ECM what the coolant temperature is. Then the ECM turn on a relay, which then turn on the fan.

What you need to find out is: what is the problem: lack of coolant flow (blocked radiator or failed thermostat for example) or lack of air flow (fan not working, radiator air passage blocked by dirt...)

Also, what make you say it overheat? boiling coolant? high temperature gauge reading? warning light on the dash?

If it's a lack of airflow, it mean that something between the ECU and the fan blades is dieing. Possibly the fan or the relay. Could also be a wiring issue, but those tend to cause more problems, as in never turning on or blowing fuses...

As for that relay... it appear to be well hidden... Suposelly it is located "center front of dash, on relay bracket"

A note of warning about stopleak and the alike: DON'T DO IT!!!!

If you have leak, find the leak and proprelly fix it.

Adding such junk products will only cause more problems. What those thing do is to release lots of shit into the coolant. After a while, some of that will "try" to leak out, but will clog the hole... As will clog some small passage in your engine, coat some surface with goo, including your precious radiator...

So, will it stop leak? most probably. Is it safe? Ask REAL mechanics and see how many engines was replaced, and the average cost.. (you can't flush it out)

If you go to any local Auto parts store, and ask about Blue Devil!
Usually mechanics use it, they don't want to chase a little coolant problem.

Can we clear this up? Is this vehicle losing coolant? When the engine is cold first thing in the morning, remove the radiator cap......is fluid low? Is fluid low in reservoir?

Do you add coolant to top it off?

If yes, then you have a small leak, which is creating an air pocket, that causes an overheating condition......when you top it off, it's ok for a few weeks until the air pocket developes again.....

If you are adding coolant, need to find if it's external or internal.....sometimes it is so small, heat of the engine, evaporation, air movement over the engine, etc., may make it hard to find.......then a dye should be added and a black light used.....

If nothing is found externally, it is internal......

yes in the morning, reserve tank is low, i add water to it. but it doesnt help. how do i get an air pocket out? what is the dye called and how is it used?
this morning i completely drained the cooling system, refilled and still same sh*t. this is really getting on my last nerve. please help
