This thread is really wide for me...sorry if it looks that way for you too (been awhile since I posted).
Hello DSMer's!!!! Man it feels good to back in the DSM world. Some of you might remember me...1g black awd tsi auto (more info in SIG). I was forced to sell due to a further travel to college about 5 years ago (man time flies). And a couple years ago I was looking to get back into a DSM (spyder gst).
Welp, I found one, drove it, and brought her home. It's 97 spyder gst 5sp, 3 inch exhaust, boost gauge, manual boost controller, greddy turbo timer, greddy fmic, greddy type s BOV, and some kind of Mistu turbo (he said 16g) I will confirm soon. It also is lowered, not sure if I like it, rides rough and I scratch the front bumper underneath at times.... also it has 90xxx miles, I paid... $1500! Red with nice tan leather (no rips).
Thats the good stuff, the stuff that isn't amazing news is...
-it has no 1st gear (just wont go in, its like gone I guess) so i start in 2nd gear and go from there (for now)
-the top leaks in the back seat during heavy rain (no rips though soo... waterproof car cover on it for now)
-needs a upper driver's side motor mount (no big deal)
-back bumper will need paint and front bumper has a couple cracks and will need to be replaced in time
None of the cons are emergencies right now for me though which is good. I will fix them all when I am ready. This will not be my DD, I still have the 3.2 acura TL. It also had some stickers (junky) on it, I got rid of them. Most of the pictures I will post should be sticker free.
One sticker in this photo, before I washed her..and after.

Thanks man, yeah the color is growing on me. I always liked black and darker type colors, but on a 2g..the red really brings out her curves.

Thanks man, yeah KBB value is around 6k on it so I feel like I got a really good deal even though it needs some minor things. It's nice to finally own a DSM that is not my DD (this is my 3rd dsm).

Anyone know where I can find a convertible boot cover?
eBay wants $299 for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-1999-MITSUBISHI-ECLIPSE-TAN-BOOT-TONNEAU-TOP-COVER-OEM-CONVERTIBLE-/290727142736?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b0b02550&vxp=mtr

Thanks man (Brian right?), feels good to be back. How you been? Why'd ya sell?
Yup, I've been good. I actually traded for a loaded 02 Tahoe in mint condition. It was too good of a deal to pass up and about as close as I would ever get to getting my money back out of the DSM. Priorities shift in life and sometimes ya just gotta move on. I'll have another DSM someday again though. For now I'll enjoy the Corvette and Tahoe.
As far as the convertible covers go, you probably won't find them too much lower than that price unless you get one from somebody making and selling them out of their garage. Not anything wrong with that though if the quality is there.
BTW, I've got some spare DSM parts laying around if your looking for anything specific for yours. Little bit of both OEM and aftermarket. Lemme know though and I can look around and see what all I've got still.

I can certainly relate to your reason for selling. I sold my tsi awd for 2grand more then I originally paid for it, so it was a no brainer and I needed to sell because of priorities also. Enjoy the truck man, sounds like a good deal.
And thanks, if I need anything I will be in touch. Do you have a 2g ashtray? Lol mine is missing. I love the convertible boot, but I just hate to put out that kinda money already that isn't needed, BUT at the same time I am worried I might not see these much longer :(
I haven't really gotten involved with the car too much, drove it maybe 3 times in the past 2 weeks that I have had it. I am in no rush and I just been busy with work lately. Feels good to come home though and take her out for a drive on a nice day/night with the top down once or twice a week. :)

I just broke down and bought the tan convertible boot. I was too worried I might not be able to find one in the future so I just ate the price now. Sad thing is, right after I paid for it, I found another one on ebay for 40 bucks less (which wasn't listed last night), FML haha. Oh well, life goes on..I'll be happy when I put it on and hopefully I'll love it.

It'll look good on it. Worth the money for the ascetics you gain.
Next, I would give the whole car a go around with any/all maintenance it is due for or needs. This is the key to keeping these cars problem free.
And no, I don't have an ash tray. Sorry... Got a nice aftermarket intake though that never got put on the car... ;) lol

Yeah, I believe I'll be happy with the convert boot too. And yup, the tranny will need attention, debating to upgrade now to a better tranny and just pay once for tranny work. I will also need a new front bumper.
The car is lowered, but when at high speeds, its bouncing all over the road (new struts maybe?). I was thinking about raising it to stock height so it rides better(bumps, curb rashes all suck). Plus working on the car in my driveway is hard with it lowered. Not sure if I can drive it up on ramps with it lowered.
I also will replace a motor mount for sure, driver's side by the timing belt, and check on the others for sure.
Intake for sale you say....tell me more..intake manifold or filter hardpipe? if so brand? size? for stock maf? recirc tube welded on?

Guess I should have specified better. It is an intake manifold. Sheet metal that I had gotten online but it has no markings for a manufacturer. I can shoot ya some more details and pics in an email if your interested.

I think I am going to wait a little bit before I put money out for performance parts, I need to take care of the current issue's and maintenance first. If you still have it for sale in the coming months, I might just ask for some details on it. Thanks though!
Any idea about the suspension scenario/issue's that I mentioned. I really am considering redoing it all back to stock height/suspension. Opinions welcomed.

Sounds good man. Get that maintenance in order first!
When it's lowered your gonna have less travel for the struts and shocks and you'll experience a rather bumpy ride if they are bottoming out. It's also bad for them to do that. When lowering it should be done with proper parts that were made for it. Could be just cut springs with factory struts and shocks... Check it out and let us know.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I'll have to look into it, like I said, I am in no rush on any of these things, I put like 40 miles on the car in like the three weeks I've owned it so I will slowly take care of stuff. I am certainly leading towards stock suspension, easier to work on without a lift and better ride quality from my experiences.
