Here's one for the Pro's, AC Issue

Long story short, in about march, my compressor was starting to make a little noise, still worked, but made noise when it was turned on. Not the typical noise you get when you need to adjust the air gap which only occurs when the compressor is disenguaged.
So, before it grenaded itself, I sucked the freon out, all of about 1.12lbs which was the original factory charge, and changed the compressor from one from the junkyard. Recharged, I dont remember exactly how much I put in, but I thought the sticker said 2.2lbs.
AC got ICE cold and remained cold for a few days. Then the temps out got cooler and it wasn't needed for a month. Then when it got hot out again, it would only blow warm air. A quick hook up to the recovery machine and there was no freon left. Under UV light, the replacement compressor was leaking. 90 day warrenty so I switched it out again.
Now for the funny part. New compressor in, charged back up to the amount on the sticker, no leaks, driving down the road cruising 55-60mph with the AC on, the vents blow uneven air, the pass side gets ice cold, and the driverside is ambient. Low on freon you say? Come to a stop, or idle, or even cruising and let your foot off the gas so the RPM's drop down, and the drivers side starts blowing ice cold also. Step on the gas and bring the RPM's back above 1500 and it blows ambient air.
Weird problem? I thought about sucking it dry again, and recharging to see it that helps. I just dont know. It seems backwards to me for being low on freon. Maybe its overcharged?

You don't state the year of your car-- They been making GP's a long time.
But by using replacement used parts, you are stepping right back into the same issue you experienced with your OEM pump.
You have a 2nd leaky used compressor. Evap is responding to the low refrigerant charge- especially if you are not sure how much you have in it. I rebuild those seals- the belly o-rings and the shaft seals....they ALL leak eventually-- so it is up to you- rebuild old one, or put in a new one....

I would have to agree with this statement, sounds like a charge issue.

I would also check hard vacuum line that comes out of the firewall. Could be white, black, gray. Look for holes/cracks.

Did you put the correct amount of PAG oil in the compressor before putting it on the car? If it is low on oil, the system will get too cold and freeze up.
