Diamond car paint

Hi guys, I've read an article about a Porsche tuner (Gemballa) who has developed a Diamand car paint with real diamonds http://www.autocomparison.com/gemballa-creates-real-diamond-car-paint/.
I also found an article of a (real!) gold plated Porsche 996 Turbo.. http://www.bornrich.com/gold-plated-porsche-996-turbo-cabriolet-russia-sell-69640.html

In my opinion these kind of modifications on (super)cars are tasteless.. How far can a person go with personalising his car without making it tacky? What do you think?
