1/24 MFH Porsche 917/30 Completed!

Here's my MFH 917/30, a really great kit but it's a bear. It is a bit intricate trying to get all the frame pieces to stay bonded. It's an exercise in patience, for sure. Lots of stuff added/changed to make it accurate, even though it's an MFH kit. (I was hoping that you wouldn't have to add much to one of these kits bcs of the price but not so, if you want all-out detail...) Enjoy!

Blimey - didn't see this one coming! You won't be surprised that I like this a lot, given my love of Porsche racers, but I can totally agree with your comment about it being an excercise in patience - there's so much going on in these turbo-panzers, particularly in the engine bay. Somehow it all manages to fit together! It takes me back to when I was building my 917-10...

A great subject, an attractive build, and a really effective presentation (no hiding places!). Good stuff!

Well, with this particular version (Nurburgring '74 in the "Interseries"), it was quite a bit different from the regular 917/30s. The MFH kit is more representative of the Penske cars (like the Sunoco one) than the Martini car. If you look at the reference pics, there are quite a few differences and things to fix around the fuel cells and some of the hoses, etc., in the driver's cockpit.

Overall, the Penske machines don't require that much adjusting. Now, the Martini car just requires some more, quite a bit more if you want to be 100% accurate...

Of that car, there are only 3, maybe 4 pictures out there. That made it really tough to super detail. If you (or anyone else) needs pics, I have some of that specific car. I'll be glad to share. Just ask. :p

Yep, body panels do fit but I'm not about to display it that way after shortening my life by that many hours of stress and work! ;)

if you had the 12/th scale Matra? then yes. i had brought some motorcycles and sports cars.
